Kazi Yetu US (hereinafter as “Kazi Yetu,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects individual privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of its website users and shoppers (“user,” “you,” or “your”). In this Privacy Policy (“Policy”), we inform you about the handling of your personal information when using our website, including shopping from the online store section. 

By accessing our website and shopping our products, you agree to how we handle your information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, you must immediately stop using our website.

  • Order information. We collect the details of your order, including the item purchased, quantity, order note, shipping address, order history, and payment method used. This information may include your home address, location, time zone, and similar information. 
  • Payment and billing information. We collect your payment method information to enable us to process payments for your orders. This may include (where applicable) the card number, name, security code, expiry date, and billing address. Your payment method information is not stored in our database. The payment page is handled by Stripe directly as a trusted third-party payment processor. 
  • Information from your content. We may collect any information you include in your order notes, comments, feedback, and media you submit to us. 
  • Transaction information. We automatically log the details of transaction. This may include the amount paid, payment method used, time and date of payment, and item purchased. 
  • Cookie information. We use cookies, beacons, and similar tracking tools to automatically collect certain non-personal information, including your device properties (IP Address, geolocation, browser type, operating system, etc.), your actions on our website, the errors you encounter, and similar information. We collect this information anonymously when you first access our website or use some of the features. Please learn more about cookies, including opting out, in section 7 of this Policy.

As highlighted, we may collect the information described above: 

  1. directly from your submission (such as when you fill out our forms);
  2. automatically through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies and third-party tools; and 
  3. from certain third parties (such as when Stripe provides us with transaction information, including payer name, service/product purchased, amount paid, billing information, payment method used, transaction ID, etc.). 


Please note that you are under no obligation to provide us with any information when you use our website and purchase from us. However, we are unable to provide our service without the required information (for example, we are unable to pack and send an order if you do not specify the item, provide your shipping address, pay for the item, or any other service that depends on the information). 


5. Why We Collect Information

We collect your information to provide you with the best possible experience while using our website and services. We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To process and fulfill orders. We collect your personal and payment information to process your orders, complete transactions, and deliver products to your specified address. We also use this information to provide order confirmations, shipping updates, and handle any returns or exchanges.

  1. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are also used in connection with the use of Google Analytics and etracker. These are third-party tracking tools that we use to analyze the traffic on our website. Aside from blocking analytics cookies, you can opt out of analytics from these tools by using their opt-out tools (for example, you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on on your browser). 


8. Interest-Based Advertising 

We may work with Google, Facebook, and other social media advertising platforms to market our products and services on their platform and across the internet. You should always keep your access information confidential and close browser window when you have finished communicating with us, especially if you share your device with others.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. 


10. How Long We Retain Personal Information

We will only retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, and the purposes for which we process your personal information.

If you request that we delete your account information, we may retain your information for 30 days before deleting it. We may retain information regarding your transactions for longer periods to comply with the law and facilitate refunds or disputes. 

 

11. The International Transfer Of Your Information 

We may transfer personal information about you from the US to the EU where our branch is and to other locations where our third-party service providers operate from. These locations may have laws different from the ones in the US. However, any transfer of your information will be done with applicable safeguards in place as required by law.

You have the following rights concerning our use of your information: 

  • Right to access. You can request to access the information we collect, use, share, and disclose about you in a machine-readable format. You can also request that we transfer your information to another service provider. You can contact us to exercise this right. 
  • Right to correct or update. If any information we have about you is inaccurate, you can request to correct it. You can edit your shipping address under your account at any time. 
  • Right to delete. You can request to delete your information from our database at any time. You can delete your shipping address and other information from your account area. To delete your account, please message us at hello@kazi-yetu.com. The deletion of your information is subject to our retention policy in section 10 above. 
  • Right to withdraw consent. If we are processing your information based on your consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time (for example, you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails). 


13. Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that allows you to automatically signal your preferences regarding online tracking. At this time, our website does not respond to DNT signals. However, you may opt out of interest-based advertising as outlined in section 8 above.  


14. Children’s Privacy 

Our website and services are not targeted at anyone under the age of 13 (children). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children unless they demonstrate that they have verifiable approval from their parents or guardians.

If we are aware that we have collected personal information from a child without parental verification, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
